Stop Waking Up Like a Zombie. Fix Your Mornings Now
Get Outside and Move, Your Brain Will Thank You
Ello,
If you’re still rolling out of bed 30 minutes before work, mainlining coffee before you’ve even fully opened your eyes, and wondering why you feel like shit all day, here’s your answer:
You’re doing mornings all wrong 🤷♂️
❌ Your first move of the day shouldn’t be straight to your laptop
❌ It shouldn’t be reaching for caffeine five minutes after waking up
❌ And it definitely shouldn’t be doom-scrolling through your phone while lying in bed like a zombie
You need to move
Walk. Run. Cycle. Lift. Swim. Doesn’t matter. Just move
Why Moving First Thing in the Morning Changes Everything
☀️ You’ll wake up faster: Movement gets your heart rate up, and produces a stress hormone called cortisol. Elevated cortisol is a good thing in moderation, it forces you to get shit done
🧠 You’ll be more productive: 20 minutes outside and your first coffee of the day will hit way harder, meaning you won’t be slamming another one by 11 AM
💡 You’ll think clearer: Natural light exposure (instead of the blue light from your screen) regulates your circadian rhythm, helping you wake up now and sleep better later
🫡 You’ll actually enjoy your mornings: No one likes rolling out of bed straight into stress mode. A morning walk gives you 20 minutes of actual peace before work wrecks your day
This Isn’t Just For People With ‘Time’
I can already hear the excuses…
“Oh Sheep, easy for you, you work from home.”
Aye, and when I worked at Sports Direct at 14 for £3.79 an hour, I walked to work
When I was a PT, I cycled to the gym before clients
When I was a PE teacher, I trained before school to dodge rush hour
This has never been about ‘free time.’ It’s about making time
Because if you don’t move in the morning, you’ll pay for it later:
👉️ You’ll drag yourself through the day needing double the caffeine
👉️ You’ll finish work exhausted and still needing to get your steps in
👉️ You’ll feel like you never actually woke up properly
Build the Routine, Get the Benefits
Start simple:
📍 Set your alarm 20 minutes earlier
🚶 Walk outside – no phone, no podcast, just get sun on your face
☕️ Push your first coffee back until after
🛏️ Sleep better, wake up better, feel better
Don’t be the person who’s STILL blaming winter for feeling tired. It’s March. The sun is out. Sort it out
Cheers,
Sheep 🐏
