The Ultimate Guide to Staying on Track This Christmas
How to keep up your gains over the Christmas holidays
Ey up,
It’s less than a week before Christmas 🎅 The tree’s up, the presents are wrapped (or maybe not), and the Quality Street tin is looking suspiciously light already 🎄
If you haven't done any of the above yet, I'd normally say 'don't worry about it you've still got time' but that's reserved for meaningless things, like a degree. This is Christmas, grow up and get it done
Now, if you’ve been on MyFitnessPal all year, meticulously tracking every calorie, you might be panicking at the thought of festive chaos…
So let me help you out. I’ve got THE foolproof guide to staying on top of your nutrition over Christmas. Ready?
Step 1: Pre-Plan All Your Meals 🍗
That’s right. Sit down and map out every turkey sandwich, mince pie, and glass of Bailey’s for the next week 🍗🧀🥂
What’s that? Your auntie’s bringing her famous trifle, and it’s impossible to know how many calories are in it? Tough. Weigh the whole trifle if you have to 🎂
Step 2: Calculate Your Christmas Day Macros 🎅
Don’t just stop at calories. How much protein is in a roast parsnip? How many grams of carbs are in a slice of Christmas cake?
Step 3: Delete MyFitnessPal Completely ❌
Wait, what?
Yeah, scrap all of that
Here’s the real advice:
Delete the app. Put your phone down. Eat the bloody cake
Christmas isn’t the time to be that person weighing out roast potatoes in front of their family or skipping dessert because it doesn’t fit your macros. It’s about enjoying yourself, making memories, and probably eating way more cheese than you planned to
It’s Fine to Let Go (For a Bit)
One week isn’t going to ruin all your progress. It’s what you do consistently over time that matters, not the indulgence of a single day
So enjoy the food, drink the wine, and have fun. Your gym routine, your nutrition plan, and your goals will all be waiting for you in January
It’s all about balance
What’s the point of training hard the other 51 weeks of the year if you can’t enjoy one week off?
“Christmas calories don’t count. That’s just science.”
Merry Christmas,
Sheep 🐏
P.S. If deleting MyFitnessPal permanently sounds like your vibe, but you want to keep making progress without stressing over the numbers, I've had multiple clients go through long phases of not tracking their nutrition while making substantial progress.
