Stop Chasing Sh*t That Doesn’t Matter

Why People With Less Are Happier Than You

Ello,

As you probably know if you’ve been following me on social media for a while, I’ve spent more time travelling than I have spent in the UK the past couple years

And there’s something that’s hit me hard

Most of us are chasing the wrong sh*t

I’ve spent a good amount of time in countries like Thailand, Vietnam, Bali

Places where, honestly, people have way less than we do in the UK or US

They’ve got fewer gadgets and worn-out clothes, and they're driving on the roads with cars that would make your local MOT tester weep

And guess what? They’re happier than we are.

These people are working longer hours in tougher jobs, earning a fraction of what we consider a decent wage, and their health standards are definitely not what we’re used to

But despite all of that, they’re still happier

They don’t care about keeping up with the latest trend, wearing the most expensive watch, or flexing on Instagram with their new car

They’re not competing with each other

There’s less access to the materialistic sh*te that we in the West seem to think is so important, and they’ve found happiness in the simple stuff

It’s like they’re living a life we’ve forgotten how to appreciate

Now think about us. We’ve got all the ‘stuff’

  • The latest smartphones

  • The designer clothes

  • The expensive watches

  • The all-inclusive holidays

We’re living lives that from the outside should be perfect, right?

But you ask most people, and they’re f*cking miserable

Social media has thrown us into a constant competition. We’re scrolling through Instagram, comparing our lives to people we don’t even know, stressing about the things we don’t have instead of appreciating the things we do

It’s a never-ending grind to one-up each other, but for what?

Maybe it’s time to step back and ask yourself:

Are you really focusing on the right things?

Take a look around

You might already have everything you need to be happy, but you're too busy chasing stuff that doesn’t even matter

Maybe it’s time to rethink your priorities

Cheers,
