Ey up,

The biggest problem with fitness advice?

It’s ALL good advice. And it’s ALL shite advice. At the exact same time.

Confused? Let me explain.

The Myth of “Best” and “Worst”

People love asking:

  • “What’s the best chest exercise?”

  • “Is intermittent fasting good or bad?”

  • “What’s the best split for muscle growth?”

They want me to just say yes/no. But the truth is, it depends. Every single time.

I have coached 200+ people over 6 years, and every single person has had different strengths, weaknesses, dietary requirements, time constraints, and injuries. I could give two people the exact same training plan and the results would be vastly different.

So do not listen to anyone online trying to sell you the ultimate training programme. It’s a load of bollocks.

Context Is Everything

Your “best” exercise or diet depends on:

  • Your height, limb length, age, gender

  • Injury history (hello dodgy shoulders 👋)

  • Training history & availability

  • Do you train in a packed commercial gym at 6pm? Or a quiet private gym?

  • Appetite, hormones, digestion, sleep quality

  • Even what bloody country you live in (food quality, access, equipment)

Every single one of these changes the answer. There is no universal “best.”

Take these exercises and diets for example:

Bench press: amazing chest builder for some. But a shoulder destroyer for others.

Intermittent fasting: great if you’re not hungry in the morning. A disaster if you’re starving by 9am.

Squats: biomechanical dream if you’re built for it. Absolute knee suicide if you’re not.

The Reality

There’s no “best.” There’s no “worst.”

There’s only context.

The people telling you otherwise are either:

A) trying to sell you their one-size-fits-all programme

B) parroting TikTok buzzwords without any real experience

Avoid them at all costs 🙅🏼‍♂️

Cheers,
